I know I'm going to have both streams open just because of how awesome Day9 and Tastosis are. I want to see pretty much every match-up listed here. There are going to be some epic matches. If it turns out as epic I as expect it to, I will probably try to attend the Raleigh event in August. Here's a little copypasta of the schedule. Lately, sex hasn't been something on my mindI really do think there is something wrong with meI am 22, I should be a sex machine. When I masturbate it doesn't feel as good as it normally does and I do not feel as horny as I usually do.
I can't think of anything for a subtitle for November! I also only lightly edited it! Tired…sorry!
I'm writing this on Thanksgiving weekend, and what else would one do on a holiday weekend except track their net worth, budget for next month (I just threw up in my mouth a little writing that), and blogging?!? Amiright?
It's been 'cold' (in quotations because it's LA cold) and raining for pretty much the entire week. It's keeping me inside all warm and bundled up with my cozy but unattractive plaid pajama bottoms, so it helps with the temptation to go out and spend.
So this weekend I've been playing TONS of catching up with some work and some life stuff, TRYING to get organized, and making use of a free 7-day gym membership, which has been great, but sadly is a whopping $200/month so back to Crossfit Balcony (aka my home gym) I go, and I'll have to suck it up if there is rain. Anyhoo, let's recap this month!
Financial
Welp, the good news is I tracked my spending this month! Yay! Is every single penny accounted for? Probably not, but it's close. The bad news? I was only, ohhhhhh $1,165.87 over budget. I mean, just a smidge, right? The biggest culprit was another medical bill from Kaiser for my finger surgery for $1,017.00. The other big expenses were just general life stuff and groceries ($595). 'Does it help if I tell you I hardly eat out?' she asks sheepishly. Hmmm, nope, not letting myself off the hook that easy. Time to tighten that shit up.
But hey, my net worth INCREASED $6,941 over last month! Yay stock market. I use Personal Capital to track my net worth and expenses. I love it because it's super easy to use, has all of my information in one place, and it's completely free. Try it out and see why myself and other personal finance bloggers love this website. If you don't know your net worth, it's impossible to create a financial roadmap for yourself!

My net worth increase was definitely not due to the income I made last month, sadly. To make things even more challenging going forward, last Friday was my last day doing a regular gig with a company where I earned $1,500 per month. They replaced me with someone who was full time. I am doing another regular project for this same company, but right now it's only at $400/month, so I'm losing $1,100 in guaranteed income. This company did say there would be more work, and I'm trying to stay positive, but I hear that ALL the time and unless I'm on retainer, it's nothing guaranteed.
I'm not going to dwell on it or get down. There is no time for that and I don't want to waste any energy on it anymore. Stephen marley someone to love mp3 download. But I HAVE to make things happen income-wise, and SOON!
Friendsgiving
Thanksgiving
I had a really mellow day. I went to that gym early in the morning, and my friend Dave took me to see Jojo Rabbit, which is a fantastic film. Heartwarming, funny, sad, and strange all at the same time. I bought us some food for dinner and we sat at my neighbor's apartment (I was cat-sitting) eating food and watching The Mandalorian, which I'm still on the fence about. Then I watched Guardians of the Galaxy (I think that was my 3rd or 4th time seeing it).
Earlier that week I went to a Friendsgiving with my volleyball coaches and that group. That was really fun.
I wonder if I'm the first person to give Bugs bunny ears? 🙂
50 by 50 List
I completed a couple of items on my list including making homemade bread, decluttering, and running a trail run race. I got 2nd in my age group for the 5K!
Magic Mountain
I also went with Dave to Magic Mountain this month. We left kind of late to avoid morning traffic (and still didn't) and he had a free pass for me (yay!). We pretty much walked on most rides (double yay!) and it was fun to just get my mind off of work for a day. Buuuut, good lord did we have atrocious traffic on the way home. It's 61 miles and took us 2.5 hours to get back. If I ever had a long commute in LA I'd just…well, I just refuse to do that so that's that.

Kauai
I did rebook my trip to Kauai for February after I had canceled my original trip in September. I was able to find a flight without paying anything extra, and my Airbnb is covered by travel reward points. The only thing I have to think about is a rental car and anything I spend on excursions/food, although methinks excursions will mostly involve free hiking around the island. And maybe only one splurgy dinner out. I'm still looking for a travel buddy if anyone wants to go!
Other Random Things
I've been keeping super busy on projects (both paid and unpaid), but when I'm not working and working out, I've been getting into playing ukulele almost every night again. It's such a happy instrument and focusing on just music, even if it's for 20 minutes, is a nice distraction. I've also been watching Downton Abbey. I've seen I think 3 or 4 seasons in the past, but it's so good I'm loving it the second time around and looking forward to episodes I haven't seen and the movie. I also watched Jack Ryan on AP, which I really enjoyed. I have a crush on John Krasinski.
December
I don't have much planned for December except for still laying kind of low, working out, planning for next year, and trying to earn some more income! I was trying to think of something else but nope, that's it. K.I.S.S.

Ooooh, also, a company I work with, VolleyCamp Hermosa, is doing a giveaway starting Monday, December 2! So make sure to follow them on Instagram, and follow me too, because I plan on doing a giveaway in December too!

Over the course of the summer, my cousin continued to stay over frequently and we‘d catch an episode here and there but it was pretty difficult to keep up considering that, as far as we knew, it came on only once or twice a week at 3 am. Eventually, we missed a few episodes in a row and just forgot about it until we came across the video that would forever change our lives - Rounders.
That movie opened up my eyes. The game of poker and the life of a gambler intrigued me. I wanted to experience it. As luck would have it, right after the movie was over, we flipped it to TSN and we were able to get our second dose of poker for the night. My desire to learn the game was solidified. I didn't miss a single episode for the rest of the summer. (Well. almost the entire summer. I went to Korea for 3 weeks where I had my first real money poker experience. Talk of that to come in my next journal entry.)
Right away, we started playing and we couldn‘t get enough. It was strictly three handed consisting of myself, my brother, and my cousin but, in this game, was where I believe I learned a lot of the fundamentals. The games became really competitive and the three of us were forced to find ways to improve. We didn't have poker books (we didn't know that they existed and probably couldn't have afforded them anyway if we did) nor did we know anyone else that played hold'em, so we just went to work tweaking our games, hoping that in our experimentation, we'd find a playing style that would get us the win for that night. In this manner, we eventually learned a few important lessons:
1) Some starting hands win more than others.
2) Some draws hit more than others.
3) Bluffing all the time is NOT all that great of an idea.
None of us were really any good but it was a start and this learning experience would prove to be significant during my trip to Korea later on that summer. More to come on that in my next entry.
